Electric cars use the battery as the only source of power. Batteries in the electric vehicle can be recharged in a charging station that is set-up at home or office or in a common-public charging station.
Even though the batteries can be recharged, they wear out with time. Besides, the climate of the surrounding can also be a factor for lesser battery-age.
Like every other component in a vehicle, the batteries can drain-out and has to be replaced. Usually, some batteries can last for about 10 Years, unlike the usual batteries which could last only for 4 to 5 Years.

Different types of batteries used in electric vehicles
There are three types of batteries used in an electric vehicle in India, which can be the best batteries for electric vehicles in India. They are, lithium-ion, nickel-metal hydride, and lead-acid battery.
This is the most commonly used battery in electric cars and scooters. In fact, these batteries are used in electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, laptops.
These batteries provide high efficiency even during high temperatures and as these batteries offer low weight they can run for a longer period on a single charge.
Unlike the lead-acid batteries, these lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles do not have to be monitored and re-fill water. This reduces the maintenance of the battery to a considerable amount.
In addition, these batteries do not discharge soon which is also one of the important factors considering that these batteries do not have to be recharged very often.
This battery is widely used among vehicle manufacturers all around the world since these batteries offer long-life, safety and does not overheat, and moreover, these batteries are recyclable which is a huge factor for the manufacturers concerning environmental issues.
Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries
These batteries are mostly used in Computers and Medical equipment. Compared to Lithium-ion batteries these Nickel-metal hydride batteries have a longer-life but on the other hand, it has a short discharge period.
Which is not quite good and not a viable option for electric vehicles.
In fact, these batteries are expensive than lithium-ion batteries and generate more heat than the other batteries.
Since, vehicles also emit more heat, using this battery is either not a viable option for the vehicle manufacturers to chose this battery over the Lithium-ion battery.
Moreover, since these batteries also cost more, this has an impact on the price of the electric vehicle when launched in the market.
Typically, these types of batteries are used by earlier car manufacturers. Even though they cost less, they have high-maintenance.
Also, these batteries are often dead in a short span. Furthermore, these batteries are not environmentally friendly. These batteries need to be disposed in a safe environment and also with care.
It is in the name itself, Lead and Acid, these chemicals are harmful to the environment and have to handle with care.
Also, these batteries cannot withstand current and future technologies. The lead-acid battery does not offer fast-charging which is one of the most prominent & promising futures in the electric vehicle industry.
